Her Story

It started with a girl who spoke dog

Helene’s bond with dogs began long before it became a career. She was the kid who walked the neighbors’ dogs for free, just to spend time with them. The dogs that growled at everyone else somehow always warmed to her. As a teenager, she volunteered at a local animal shelter for years.
When a run of corporate layoffs left her tired of starting over, a close friend who had become a dog trainer reminded Helene of what she had always known about herself. In 2002, newly expecting her first child and wanting work that let her raise a family on her own terms, she enrolled in a full time training program and never looked back.
What people once doubted she could make a living doing became her life’s work.

Credentials & Training

Trained by a legend, proven over 25 years

Great training is earned, not claimed. Here is where Helene’s comes from.

Certified Master Dog Trainer

Graduated a full time program at Anthony Jerone’s School of Dog Training & Career Inc., logging 200 hours of hands on training and apprenticeship.

Studied under a pioneer

Her instructor, Master Trainer Anthony Jerone, handled scout dogs in Vietnam (earning a Bronze Star) and built New York City’s first subway K-9 corps. That lineage lives in how Helene trains today.

Association of Pet Dog Trainers

An active member, committed to humane, current, positive methods for dogs of every age, breed, and temperament.

Mentor and speaker

Has led group classes, offered free socialization classes, mentored aspiring trainers, and spoken through Business Networking International.

Her Philosophy

Love, praise, and positive reinforcement. Never fear.

Helene disagrees with fear based training, full stop. Dogs learn best when they trust the person teaching them, so her method builds that trust with patience, praise, and clear, consistent communication. Good behavior sticks long after she leaves.
And because no two dogs are alike, no two plans are either. Helene reads each dog’s personality and each family’s values, then customizes the training to fit. One thing most people do not expect: she trains the owners as much as the dogs, because your dog is only as consistent as the humans reinforcing the lessons.

What Helene believes in

What she leaves behind

A Story That Says It All

A family adopted Winter, a four year old Great Pyrenees who was deaf and had grown aggressive toward their teenage daughter. Helene’s evaluation showed fear aggression, a reaction rooted in fear, not temper. She taught the family to respect Winter’s boundaries: move slowly, never crowd his face, spend calm quality time, reward generously. Over time Winter learned to trust again, and a dog who might have been returned stayed home with his family.
